“The Geek Media Expo (GMX) is an annual convention where fans come together for several days to celebrate all things geek media. The event supports the popular arts, video games, television, and STEM technologies. The event is hosted every year in Nashville, Tennessee.
“The brief included a new logo, a program guide, and other collateral. The problem: the event was still fairly young and lacked recognition. The old logo used the abbreviation, GMX, instead of, Geek Media Expo. I felt this was a missed opportunity to be clear. The new logo is an “8-bit emoji” closed inside a pair of brackets to represent our personalized experiences with media; instead of the abbreviation the title is written out.
