“Franklin Electronics was a project that spanned two semesters at the Academy of Arts University. The goal was to create a fictitious company with different products or sub-brands. The first product, Lilly, is a whole home wifi device, like Eero, combined with a voice activated assistant, like Amazon Alexa. The second product, Prismacast, became a wifi enabled light bulb for creatives and DIY photographers. Franklin Electronics is the parent company.”
“I was working at Best Buy when whole-home wifi devices were first hitting the market, and voice activated assistants like Amazon Alexa (Siri, Google) were becoming more popular; so, when my instructor at AAU asked to create a new innovative product for our fictitious company I thought to combine the two technologies. The idea was a device that gives users a whole home wifi experience while simultaneously allowing them to activate their virtual assistant from any room. In a perfect world, this device would be compatible with all SmartThing objects creating a fully integrated all-in-one smart home. The product's slogan is, “A Smarter Home.”
“The problem: create a package design for a common glassware item.
“The solution: a digital LED light bulb for artists and DIY photographers with user-friendly color matching system allowing complete control of lighting without the cost of better equipment. The packaging is focused on being different than the competition while creating a unique unboxing experience that fits within current shipping and production standards.”
